How Spark Clear Aligners Work?
Why We Recommend Spark Clear Aligners
With Spark clear aligner treatment at Griffin Orthodontics, your teeth are gradually guided into alignment through a series of precisely planned movements. Dr. Griffin carefully maps out each step of your treatment, ensuring your aligners apply gentle, consistent pressure over time. You’ll switch to a new set of aligners every few weeks as your smile progresses, all without brackets, wires, or in-office tightening appointments.
Spark vs. Invisalign: What’s the Difference?
When you start looking into clear aligners here in Milwaukee, the first name most people think of is Invisalign. It’s the brand everyone knows, but it isn’t the only option. At Griffin Orthodontics, we often recommend Spark Clear Aligners to our patients in Oak Creek and West Allis—and for some very specific reasons
While both systems use clear trays to straighten teeth, Spark Clear Aligners represent the next generation of orthodontic technology. Here is why we choose Spark for our Milwaukee patients:
- Superior Clarity
- Spark aligners are made with TruGEN™ material. They are engineered to be the clearest aligners on the market, staying “invisible” longer and resisting stains better than Invisalign.
- Enhanced Comfort
- Every Spark aligner features polished, scalloped edges. This custom-trimmed design prevents the “pokey” feeling against your gums and cheeks that is common with older aligner brands.
- Precision Results
- Spark was designed specifically for orthodontic specialists. The material provides more surface contact with your teeth, which often leads to more predictable movements and faster treatment times.
How Do Spark Clear Aligners Compare to Traditional Braces for Milwaukee Patients?
When considering a smile transformation at Griffin Orthodontics, Spark Clear Aligners offer a sophisticated, nearly invisible alternative to traditional hardware. Most patients opting for this advanced aligner system enjoy the convenience of shorter check-up appointments and a significantly reduced number of office visits throughout their treatment. Because the aligners are removable, they allow for superior oral hygiene compared to braces, as you can brush and floss without navigating wires, which also leads to fewer orthodontic emergency visits. This “informed and ready” approach to treatment is ideal for busy Milwaukee professionals and students who prioritize both aesthetics and efficiency
Living With Spark Clear Aligners?
While the flexibility of Spark Clear Aligners is a major benefit, the system’s success relies heavily on patient cooperation. Unlike traditional braces that are bonded to the teeth and perform the “heavy lifting” of tooth movement automatically, clear aligners require a personal commitment to wear them for the recommended 22 hours per day. You must do a little extra work to ensure your trays can complete your treatment efficiently by keeping them in place consistently. Once your journey is complete, maintaining your new alignment—and your confident new smile—requires wearing a retainer as recommended to ensure your results remain permanent and authoritative

Yes, there is usually just a small learning curve. Most young musicians find that after a week or two of practice, they can play their trumpet, flute, or clarinet just as well as before. We provide plenty of orthodontic wax to help cushion the lips during those first few practice sessions, ensuring your child can stay active in their school band or orchestra.
This is a common concern for parents when deciding between Spark™ Clear Aligners and fixed braces. Because aligners are removable for eating and sports, they can occasionally be misplaced in a school cafeteria or locker room. If your child struggles with organization or is prone to losing track of their belongings, traditional or LightForce™ 3D-printed braces might be the better choice. These “fixed” options remain bonded to the teeth throughout treatment, removing the responsibility of tracking removable trays and ensuring the process stays on schedule without the added cost or delay of ordering replacement aligners.
Yes! This is often referred to as Phase 1 treatment. We sometimes place braces on just a few permanent teeth while baby teeth are still present to correct a specific issue, like a crossbite or severe crowding, that could cause bigger problems later. Once those baby teeth fall out, we typically take a “rest” period before starting Phase 2 when all permanent teeth are in.
Absolutely! One of the most exciting parts for kids and teens getting braces is the ability to personalize their smile. We offer a wide variety of colored bands that can be swapped out at every adjustment appointment, typically every 4 to 8 weeks. Whether they want to represent their school colors, match a holiday theme, or just pick their favorite shades, Dr. Griffin and our team love helping patients express their personality through their orthodontic journey.
Yes! Spark Clear Aligners and traditional braces are both qualified medical expenses. You can use your HSA or FSA debit card directly at our office.
