Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays

Why Our Patients Love Digital Imaging

Traditional x-rays are a thing of the past. Our digital system is designed with your comfort and well-being in mind:

  • Ultra-Low Radiation: Your safety is our priority. Digital x-rays use up to 80% less radiation than traditional film, making them the safest choice for children and adults alike.
  • Instant Results: No more waiting for film to develop. Images are available on our monitors instantly, meaning less time in the chair and more time discussing your new smile.
  • Enhanced Precision: We can zoom in and enhance your images to see the fine details of your teeth, roots, and jawbone. This allows our orthodontists to catch potential issues early and create a more predictable treatment plan.
  • Eco-Friendly: By going digital, we eliminate the need for harsh processing chemicals, keeping our Milwaukee community a little bit greener.

iTero Digital Scanner

At Griffin Orthodontics, we’ve replaced the uncomfortable, messy putty of the past with the iTero Element® Digital Scanner. For our patients in Milwaukee, West Allis, and Oak Creek , this means a faster and more comfortable start to your orthodontic journey. The iTero scanner uses advanced laser technology to create a high-definition, 3D map of your teeth in just minutes. This technology is a game-changer for children who may be nervous about dental work and adults looking for a streamlined, professional experience

How does iTero Digital Scanner work?

Based on the provided sources, the iTero Element is an advanced piece of three-dimensional scanning technology used to capture a digital impression of your teeth and gums. Here is how it functions within the orthodontic workflow:

  • 3D Digital Assessment: Instead of using physical molds, the machine scans your mouth to create a precise 3D digital model, capturing the initial position of your teeth.
  • Virtual Simulation: The technology allows for a “before and after” visualization. You can see a virtual representation of your teeth moving from their current state to the projected final result on a screen, allowing you to view your potential smile before treatment even begins.
  • Treatment Planning: Your orthodontist uses the scan to map out the specific movements of your teeth. For clear aligner patients, this scan helps calculate exactly how many sets of aligners will be required and the approximate timeframe for the treatment.
  • Appliance Fabrication: Once the treatment plan is confirmed and payment is arranged, the digital iTero scan is sent to a laboratory. There, it is used to manufacture your bespoke series of aligners (such as KLOwen, LightForce or Spark).
