Patient Q
Common Orthodontic Issues We Treat For Children and Teens
Early orthodontics focuses on guiding jaw growth and tooth development while your child is still growing. Addressing concerns early can often make future treatment easier, shorter, and more comfortable.
Common issues we evaluate include:
-
Crowding or spacing
-
Bite problems (overbite, underbite, crossbite)
-
Jaw growth concerns
Early treatment isn’t always needed, but an evaluation helps determine the right timing.
Treatment Options for Kids and Teens
Depending on your child’s needs, treatment may include:
-
Palatal Expanders are used to gently widen the upper jaw to create space for permanent teeth and support healthy jaw development during growth.
-
Spark Clear Aligners provide a discreet, removable option for correcting mild alignment issues without brackets or wires.
-
Clear Ceramic Braces by LightForce® use tooth-colored ceramic brackets that blend in naturally with teeth, making them far less noticeable than traditional metal braces while still delivering precise, customized results.
-
Traditional metal braces by KL Owenare metal braces provide an affordable, proven solution for reliable orthodontic results across a wide range of treatment needs.
Yes! Spark Clear Aligners and traditional braces are both qualified medical expenses. You can use your HSA or FSA debit card directly at our office.
Yes, clear aligners can be highly effective for many orthodontic issues, although some complex cases may still require traditional braces for optimal results. All estimations are based on each respective patients free consultation.
When braces are first put on, or after adjustments, your child might experience some soreness or discomfort for a few days as their teeth begin to shift. This is usually manageable with over-the-counter pain relievers and soft foods. Most people adapt quickly and find the discomfort to be temporary.
Once the braces are removed, the journey isn’t quite over! To keep the newly straightened teeth from shifting back, your child will need to wear a retainer. This can be either a removable one worn mostly at night or a fixed one bonded behind the teeth. Retainers are crucial for maintaining that beautiful new smile for years to come.
